Events

genXwomen are currently planning a number of fantastic events for our members and guests.

Our event calendar includes speaking events, member workshops and social events.

At our first event, genXwomen surveyed the 65 plus guests, one of the questions was regarding the preferred event time, breakfast, lunch or evening. Breakfast and lunch were by far the most popular. It is for this reason that our speaking events will be held as either a breakfast or luncheon event. Our speaking events are held at the wonderful Crowne Plaza Newcastle to ensure that we get together in a nice modern environment, can enjoy fabulous food and there is plenty of parking. genXwomen seek to bring fantastic speakers to our forum to inspire members for success.

genXwomen workshops are designed to be informative sessions on topics relevant to this group. The workshops are a cost effective way for us to increase our knowledge and skills in area's of interest.

genXwomen will also hold social events, allowing us to network & build relationships in a fun way.

Lunch with Jill Emberson

Friday, 29 April 2011, 12pm sharp to 1.30pm

Bella Vista, Cnr or Church and Crebert Streets, Mayfield (Plenty of Parking!)

A passion for radio brought Jill Emberson to the Hunter to broadcast on 1233 ABC Newcastle. Each morning more than 50,000 people tune in to her program to voice opinions, hear the latest local and national news, share a laugh and meet visiting celebrities and musicians.

1233 is a return to roots for Jill who launched her career and the first daily talk show on Triple J in the 80s. She ditched a successful job in television to follow a handsome man to Paris and returned to the Pacific Islands of her ancestors to work with women in development.

Necessity has driven some of Jill’s work choices and passion the others.

In a broad ranging career, Jill has spent time on the pay rolls of two global organisations - Greenpeace and General Electric. She took her daughter to seven different countries before she was in pre-school and today they love the opportunities of a new life in the Hunter.

Jill is a passionate communicator, who loves the power of radio to connect personal stories and make sense of the global challenges.

Reflect on one woman's working journey as you navigate your own and ask yourself: Is work just about the pay cheque?
